Saint Ambrose Pre-K Program: The pre-kindergarten program at St. Ambrose School is a full day program (8:05 a.m. until 2:45 p.m.) with after-care available until 5:30 p.m. An early morning program that begins at 7:15 a.m. is available at no cost to all pre-kindergarten students.
The pre-kindergarten program offers many opportunities for children to develop social and academic skills. The emphasis of the program is not entirely on content or school readiness, but also on the process of learning.
The program offers a safe, developmentally appropriate education environment instilling Christian values to assist in the framework of a well-rounded individual child.
Pre-K Curriculum: The pre-kindergarten program at St. Ambrose School is academically structured as required by the New York Regents Action Plan. Besides a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for the pre-kindergarten child, the curriculum also allows for ability levels and different learning styles. Classroom learning centers allow the pre-k student to manipulate materials and objects allowing for child development of important basic concepts.
Core Curriculum: Students in the pre-kindergarten program study religion, language arts, technology readiness, social studies, math readiness, science, music, library, art, dramatic play, and physical education. Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 students, in addition, take Spanish language class. Technology classes in the computer lab for our Pre-K 4 students begin at the end of the first quarter.
