Pre-K Program

A picture of what it is like to be part of our Pre-K Program:

• Upon arrival the children gather in the gym for morning program.  This includes morning prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. 
• We proceed to the classroom where the kids unpack their snack, lunch and folder. 
• Once their morning jobs are complete they have free choice time and Ms. Schaffer works with small groups on writing First and Last names. 
• After everyone has practiced their names we clean up and head over to the carpet for morning large group. 
• We start off with a good morning song and then our Special Helper of the Day goes over the calendar, weather, Days of the Week Song and Months of the Year song. We count to 25 by 1's and to 100 by 5's and 10's.  We sing our phonics song and review our letters we have learned so far, numbers 1-10 and our shapes. 
• Next it's time for Snack. 
• Our specials are in the morning.  They include PE, Music, Libray and Spanish. 
• After our specials we have our next large group time.  This is our story time which is theme related. 
• Our centers are reviewd and children are divided up in to 3 tables. 
  • Blue is our independent center - various activities are provided that are not teacher directed. 
  • Green is our craft center - theme related and teacher directed. 
  • Red is our writing and math center - teacher directed. 
• Once everyone has had the chance to visit all 3 centers we clean up and have lunch. 
• Lunch is held in our classroom and is for 30 minutes. 
• After lunch we have recess for 30 minutes and then rest time for 1 hour. 
• At the end of the day we have religion.  During religion the children learn prayers, songs and read from the Bible.
