In the last of our three reflections on the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:1-32) and Rembrandt's magnificent and powerful painting of that parable, let us focus our attention on the older son.

Last week, we began a three-part reflection on the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:1-32). We have explored the character of the father in the parable story (click to read that column); now, let's look at the younger or "prodigal" son.

As we get closer to Holy Week and Easter, and particularly because we are in the Year of Mercy, let's spend some time reflecting on the well-known and moving parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:1-32).
