Q: Will my student be able to attend Mass?
A: Yes! We aim to create a positive school environment and sense of school community. Students attend Mass once a month and are typically in accordance with Holy Days of Obligation in the Catholic Church.
Q:Our family does not practice the Catholic faith, does my child need any religious background in order to attend St. Ambrose?
A: No! St. Ambrose is welcoming to all religious denominations. Students will learn age appropriate Catholic practices and values throughout the school year. Students are not required to participate in making the sacraments but if they would like to join the Catholic Church they will be supported in the process. We encourage moral development rooted in faith.
Q: Is there a school uniform?
A: Yes! A key part of identifying our students as part of the St. Ambrose Community is their uniforms. Students wear a collared shirt and dress slacks/skirts with our school logo proudly represented. Pre-K students wear a festive colored t-shirt with our school logo on the chest and sweatpants/shorts for ease of daily routine. Our uniforms are purchased through B. Lodges in Albany (https://blodgeandcompany.com/st-ambrose/).
Q: Is there a religion curriculum that is followed?
A: Yes! Students receive religious instruction on a daily basis, and follows the curriculum developed by the Diocese of Albany which includes developing foundational knowledge, in addition to practical application. Our religion curriculum addresses 6 goals: Prayer, Pillars of Faith, Worship, Community, Discipleship, and Morality.
