Why join a parish? When we imagine the word “church”, we may think of a church building. But in our Catholic tradition there are many images for the Church. Since the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), the Church has often used the term “People of God” to refer to the Body of believers who gather in the name of Jesus Christ. For us, that reality is best understood by the parish where we live and worship.
What happens in a parish? Our weddings are celebrated in our parish church. It’s also where our children’s baptisms are celebrated, where we make our first sacraments, and where we celebrate the Eucharist. It’s from a parish that the sick are Anointed and it’s also where our loved ones bid us farewell at our funeral. The parish community accompanies us throughout all of life’s transitions. We would love to share our community with you. Consider registering today!
