Welcome to the world of art at St. Ambrose School. In our world, a piece of art, whether it be a drawing or sculpture is an educational and spiritual experience. Students have the opportunity to learn about art history, the great artists of the past and present, and many basic techniques. In a world of technology, creating with the tools of art is essential to creativity and problem-solving. Our program encourages self-expression as no other subject can.
I follow the New York State Curriculum for the Arts and I am a member of the New York State Teachers Association.
Just a brief note about myself:
I graduated from SUNY, Oneonta with a degree in Education and a minor in Fine Arts. I also have a Masters Degree from the University of San Francisco in Counseling Psychology - concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Teaching at St. Ambrose School since September 1995 has been a delight. I have taught First Grade and Third Grade and have been teaching art since 2002.
I love teaching art to the children as it enables me to share knowledge, techniques and the beauty of God’s creation. I encourage my students to enter into the spiritual realm through prayer and art.
I follow the New York State Curriculum for the art program and teach Kindergarten through 6thgrade.
An article I wrote in regard to our student art projects has been accepted by the widely known, national “School Arts Magazine.”
An article, I wrote, on St. Juan Diego and Our Lady of Guadalupe – and an art project to follow up the lesson, and was published by “The Catechist” Magazine.
I love lots of things in this beautiful world besides teaching art: taking walks with my twin, playing with my Portuguese Podengo pup, painting/writing religious Icons, playing the flute, reading, and spiritual enrichment among other things.... I’m a fan of the New York Yankees!!! Go, Team!
