Our parish has many ways that you can serve within the Mass.
Music Ministry: Music has been essential to the life and worship of God's people since the Old Testament. Our tradition has always maintained a strong connection between worship and music that allows us to particpate more fully in the Mass. Our music ministry provides an array of different music for the worshipping community, from traditional hymns to contemporary praise and worship music.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion/Eucharistic Ministers: EM's assist the priest in distributing Holy Communion at Mass. They are also able to distribute Communion to the homebound or other people who otherwise cannot make it to Mass.
Altar Servers: Altar Servers are young people who assist the priest during the Mass. Young people often like this ministry because it gives them a different perspective of the Mass.
Lectors: Lectors are ministers of the Word. They are primarily given the responsibility of reading the Old Testament readings as well as the readings from the New Testament before the presiding priest or the deacon reads the Gospel. They express the Word to us in its original context: as a living Word that we hear in the community of faith rather than merely a document we read on our own.
Ushers: Ushers assist the community in various ways as greeters, in assisting people into the Church, and in taking up the collection. They also respond to the needs of the community during Mass.
Sacristans: Sacristans have a "behind the scenes" role in helping prepare for Mass and helping with various needs during the Mass.
Media Ministry: Our parish has a Media Ministry which exists to help people better participate in the Mass in their responses and in singing via two projectors in the front of our sanctuary. Before and after Mass, they also connect with the various news and events of the parish.
